As always, here are the definitions of terms:
-Franchise names as recognized by the NFL: Cleveland Browns history is continued by their expansion team, Baltimore Ravens are a stand-alone franchise. Houston Oilers history continues with the Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans are a stand-alone franchise. All other franchises that have relocated continue their history: Chicago/St. Louis/Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts, Oakland/LA/Oakland Raiders, Cleveland/LA/St. Louis Rams.
-NFL seasons & calendar years: Since the Super Bowl has always been held in a different calendar year than the regular season, when referring to the season a Super Bowl was held we will use the year of the regular NFL season. For example: The Super Bowl held in January 1990 was for the 1989 season, and was played by the '89 49ers and the '89 Broncos. That's why they give Super Bowls roman numeric titles.
