Cardinals Jerseys

by W.H.

ST LOUIS - Despite todays game being the least populated Cardinals game since the Todd Zeile years, Saint Louis fans still show a remarkable affection for their favorite players of all eras. Based on the jerseys within sight here is SportyMcbloggin's "All-Cardinals-Team-Based-on-Jersey-Wearers-Attending-a-lousy-weeknight-Reds-game."

That's a lot of hyphens.

At 1st base the soon to be immortal Albert Pujols. Seriously there's 4 Pujols jerseys in the row next to me alone.

2nd Base- Skip Schumaker. That's it. No Tommy Herr. Sorry Herzog fanatics.

3rd Base- Sadly this goes to Troy Glaus. Even though he's been here for one season and didn't help us win a World Series like say...Rolen or possibly Boyer. Just sayin.  (EDITOR'S NOTE: Turns out there were a couple Rolen jerseys around we just didn't see them until after I sent this in via email.  Therefore Rolen wins over Glaus.  He would every time.)

SS- Ozzie Smith just barely pulled this out. Seriously 2 Ecksteins so far and only 1 Smith? Ummmm... Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith has 1 freaking jersey. Best baseball fans in America my....

OF- Musial, Brock, McGee. Don't like it? Edmonds could be the back up CF. Duncan, Ludwick, Taguchi, Rasmus, Ankiel and even Nancy Drew are available. We're going with the classics though. Musial, Brock & McGee. Right now we'd gladly accept Nick Stavinoha if someone was wearing one (thanks for the timely hit slugger)... Whoa wait a minute just got a Vince "Firecracker" Coleman sighting. We'll cover this development shortly.

C- Mr. Yadi Molina. Done. Mike Matheny's a close second but Yadi's the man. Surprisingly no Steve Lake sightings.

SP- Wainwright, Carp, Gibson and hold on... Hold on... How's about W.H.'s own Bob Forsch jersey. That's our 4-man RBI baseball pitching staff.

So here's the line up;

LF- Brock
CF- McGee
1B- Pujols
RF- Musial
3B- Rolen (see editors note)
C- Molina
SS- Smith
2B- Schumaker

Our 4-man RBI Baseball bench?
Edmonds
Ludwick
Coleman
Eckstein

And the 2-man starting rotation (if they pitch in one game, they can't pitch in the next)
Carpenter
Gibson

The 2-man bullpen (i.e. Ken Dayley & Todd Worrell)
Forsch
Wainwright
