Letters From Sporty

Dear University of Missouri Athletic Department,

You've experienced a great year in the two most important sports in terms of income for college athletics. You currently have two of the premiere up and coming coaches for football and basketball.  And there is a possibility that you may become a top contender for years to come in both your conference and the nation.   However, your history in those two sporting behemoths is littered with failure.   Your trophy case is barren of any football or basketball national championships.  So perhaps you should back off a little bit when it comes to small rural high schools using your logo.

Get Over Yourself,

Dear National Federation of State High School Associations,

We realize that we must live in a society that has rules, that is not the problem.  We understand that all sports must have certain guidelines that create an atmosphere of fair play, that is not the problem.  We can respect your ideals of “quick recognition, sanctity of the number”, that is not the problem, although we're not sure sanctity is appropriate usage in reference to a number.  We cannot agree that a stripe underneath the arm, and nowhere near the number, is worthy of a rules violation.  It's a game for kids.  Remember that your job is to make sure the games are fair on the court, not in the locker room.

Stop Making Rules for the Sake of Making Rules,

Dear Julian Tavarez,

Never stop running your mouth, it's brilliant.  But we've got some questions.  If the Nationals are the 600-pound woman of baseball, what does that make the Royals or the Pirates?   Who's the attractive team that's friends with the Nationals?  You know, the one that the Nationals always c-block you in front of.  If you can call us with the answers to these questions from the bullpen phone before you mangle your hand punching it, that would be great.

Thanks for not Speaking Behind Your Agent,

Sporty McBloggin
